2262434 - Period End Processing Error: Parent cannot be null for creating new child!. Please check rule definition.

Period End Processing (PEP) calendar failed with following message:

"ERROR_RUNTIME - Parent cannot be null for creating new child!. Please check rule definition."

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Time Off

1. Navigate to Admin Center ->Manage Time Off Calendars-->Run a PEP calendar.
2. Download the Job Respose file -> Error is displayed "ERROR_RUNTIME - Parent cannot be null for creating new child!. Please check rule definition."

• In Admin Tools -> Manage Data -> Time Account Type -> Period End Processing Rule, check whether the rule creating a new time account detail.If so ,the users should have a follow up Time Account. For Example:
• We are running a PEP for 2024 Time Account and planning to carry forward remaining balance to 2025 Time Account. During PEP run, the system will try to carry forward the balance and will throw an error if that user do not have a 2025 Time Account.
• Always create follow up account(next year Time Account) prior to running PEP calendar
• This can be rectified by creating a the follwing year's Time Account via Admin Tools -> Manage Time off Calendar.

Note:

• It is not possible to run PEP if Booking Possible until date (or Bookable Until date) of the Time account is not in past. For example:
• I have a 2024 Vacation account with start date 01/01/2024 and Booking Possible Until date 31/3/2025.Its not possible to run PEP until March 31 2025.Make sure that the Booking Possible Until date is falling in between the PEP calendar's start date and end date.
• Here the bookable until date is 31/3/2025.This date should be within pep calendar start and end date
• PEP calendar start date 31/12/2024 and end date 31/5/2025:  Correct as 31/3/2025 is falling between PEP calendar start and end date
• PEP calendar start date 01/01/2024 and end date 31/12/2025: Wrong as 31/3/2025 is not falling between PEP calendar start and end date,hence 2024 Time Accounts will not be considered for this run.
