2269985 - Error 1163 when executing CREATE DATABASE FOR LOAD - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Error 1163 is raised when executing the CREATE DATABASE FOR LOAD command to create a database > 63GB:

Error: 1163, Severity: 21, State: 1
The space allocated to the sysgams table in database 'db1' (dbid = 7) must be at least 16 pages. Use 'DBCC GAM(7,-1,-1, 'fix')' to increase the allocation.

  • A stack trace for Error 1163 contains the following functions:

pggam__srchonegampage
pggam_getfree_lowhigh
pg_allocate_syslogs
log__newpage
plc__flush
xls_preflush
write_prepare_rec

  • Error 1163 may be followed by Error 6103 and result in a phantom process:

Error: 6103, Severity: 17, State: 1
Unable to do cleanup for the killed process; received Msg 3300.
WARNING: spid 67 with suid 2210 and curdbid 7 has an active transaction in dbid 1 with xactid (70955, 23).
