Symptom
- While performing an upgrade using the Software Update Manager (SUM) an error occurs during the phase MAIN_SHDIMP/SUBMOD_SHDDEL2/SHDUNINST_DB
- The SAP system uses Oracle as its database
- The following error can be found in the SAPupConsole.log:
Checks after phase MAIN_SHDIMP/SUBMOD_SHDDEL2/SHDUNINST_DB were negative!
Last error code set:
brconnect exited with 5
Could not drop database shadow user 'SAPR3SHD', see logfile 'SHDUNINST.LOG'
- When you check file SHDUNINST.LOG, you find that it failed as below:
BR0301E SQL error -1922 at location drown_main-1, SQL statement:
'/* BRCONNECT */ DROP USER "SAPR3SHD"'
ORA-01922: CASCADE must be specified to drop 'SAPR3SHD'
BR1338E Dropping database owner SAPR3SHD failed
