Symptom
Candidates are moved to auto disqualified status after answering all screening questions correctly.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Admin Center → Recruiting.
- Create a job requisition with some screening questions added.
- Post the job requisition.
- Apply for the posted job requisition answering all the questions correctly.
- Edit the posted job requisition again.
- Add a disqualifier question to the job requisition.
- Save changes.
- Candidate will be routed to auto disqualified status.
- Message will prompt asking if the candidates will be auto disqualified.
Cause
- This is an expected behaviour.
- The pre-screen question was changed after the job requisition was approved.
- Candidates applied to the requisition before the disqualifier question was added.
- The system will not re-evaluate the candidates who applied before the job requisition was updated.
Resolution
Select 'No' when the message prompts asking if the candidates should be auto disqualified or have the candidates go through to auto disqualification and then move the candidates back to the correct status manually.
Note:
- In order to receive the prompt, the user saving the changes in job requisition must have appropriate permission to change applicant's status. If not, the next user who performs changes in the job requisition will receive the prompt instead.
- It is a best practice to configure the questions field id on the requisition as read only once the job requisition is already in approval. If this field remains with write permission, changes in the wording or answer option after application of the candidates will cause a mismatch between the questions and answers. This may lead to possible problem on unfair hiring. For example, if there are already candidates responded to the original pre-screening questions, then these questions were changed as not required, the company can be accused of treating subsequent candidates with more leniency than the initial candidates.
- If this best practice is not followed and a recruiting user changes the scoring/disqualifier settings on the pre-screen questions after some applicants have already applied, they will be prompted upon save to allow the existing applicants to be re-evaluated and possibly un-disqualified based on the new scoring criteria. This helps to protect clients from accusations of unfair hiring practices.
Note: It is strongly recommended to remove permissions for Users to the candQuestions field on the Job Requisition, in the approved status. This will remove the possibility of issues happening where Candidates are incorrectly moved.
