Symptom

How to activate or enable a field in Employee Central

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Resolution

  1. Navigate to Admin Center -> Manage Business Configuration -> Select any portlet (say Personal Info portlet)

  1.  To create a field
    1. Select any field in the identifier dropdown
    2. Provide a name to the field
    3.  Set Enabled as ‘Yes’
    4. Set Mandatory as ‘Yes’ if you need to field to be marked as mandatory.
    5. Save

  1. Provide proper permission to view the field.
    1. Navigate to Admin center->Manage permission role
    2. Choose respective role
    3. Click on permission button->Select Employee Central Effective Dated Entities 
    4. Give the needed permissions

    1. Save
  1. The newly created field will be visible now under Personal Info portlet 

field available in the UI.png

NOTE: This steps are valid for every effective dated portlet from Employee Central, such as Job Information or compensation information.
