Symptom
Is it possible to hide the nominees and the successors information from the position nodes within the SAP SuccessFactors Succession Lineage Chart?
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Succession & Development
Reproducing the Issue
- Under Succession, go to Lineage Chart
- Note the number of successors for a given position:
Resolution
- Once Lineage Chart is enabled, then all users that have access to the succession org chart will also have access to the lineage chart.
- The lineage chart follows the same rules as the succession org chart to determine whether a user is allowed to see successor information. This is primarily dependent on the "Succession Management and Matrix Report permissions."
- If the "Allow succession planners to view successors on org chart nodes" option is enabled in Org Chart Configuration Admin Tool (Admin Tools > System Properties > Org Chart Configuration > Succession org chart tab (Additional Options)), then users with "Succession Planning" permissions can also view successor information.
- If a user views the Lineage Chart and encounters a node for which they do not have visibility based on the above rules, the Lineage Chart will mask the number of nominations and successors for that node, and also show a gray node as a successor to indicate that that person may or may not have any successors named.
- Currently, it is only possible to remove both "# of Nominations" and "# of Successors Information" from the Lineage Chart, based on the above rules. If "Allow succession planners to view successors on org chart nodes" option is enabled, you will need to remove both "Succession Management and Matrix Report permissions" and "Succession Planning Permissions". If the option is not enabled, you will only need to remove "Succession Management and Matrix Report permissions".
Note: With MDF nomination method, if a user has “Succession Planning” permission but no “Succession Management and Matrix Report Permissions” they can see nominations on the lineage chart for the associated target population of “Succession Planning”. This occurs even when “Allow succession planners to view successors on org chart nodes/position tile view” has been disabled in Org Chart Configuration for Succession Org Chart.
