2279936 - Error 2433, 3805 in LIKE query against proxy table on UTF8 server - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Query using LIKE against a proxy table generates error 2433, 3805. For example:

Msg 2433, Level 16, State 3:
Server 'SYBASE', Line 1:
Illegal byte sequence encountered in Unicode data.
Msg 3805, Level 18, State 2:
Server 'SYBASE', Line 1:
The token datastream length was not correct. This is an internal protocol error.
Command has been aborted.

  • Local server is using default character set UTF8
  • Remote server is using a single-byte character set such as iso_1
