Symptom

  • How to look at the content of a master database dump without restoring it?
  • Error 3109 when trying to load a master database dump into a user database:

    load database dummydb from "/dump/master.dmp"
    go

    Backup Server: 6.28.1.1: Dumpfile name 'master160350C554 ' section number 1 mounted on disk file '/dump/master.dmp'
    Msg 3109, Level 16, State 1:
    Server 'ASETEST', Line 1:
    This dump was created from the Master database. A dump from Master can only be loaded as part of the Restore Master procedure.
