2280641 - Error 1105 & 3475 with a user-defined threshold on a mixed data and log database - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Both a user-defined threshold and a last chance threshold on the logsegment may not be fired
  • ASE runs out of log free space with a 1105 error and a 3475 error on a mixed data and log database.

Msg 1105, Level 17, State 7:
Server 'ASETEST', Line 2:
Can't allocate space for object 'syslogs' in database 'databasename' because 'logsegment' segment is full/has no free extents. If you ran out of space in syslogs, dump the transaction log. Otherwise, use ALTER DATABASE to increase the size of the segment.
Msg 3475, Level 21, State 7:
Server 'ASETEST', Line 2:
There is no space available in SYSLOGS to log a record for which space has been reserved in database 'databasename' (id x). This process will retry at intervals of one minute.

  • This problem can occur on the master database if you register a user-defined threshold because the master database is a mixed data and log database.
