2281803 - Driver error: SQL Server did not return a response. The connection has been closed. Lumira Desktop connecting to MS SQL 2008

Symptom

  • Attempting to connect Lumira Desktop to SQL Server 2008 using the database account results in the error:

Driver error: SQL Server did not return a response. The connection has been closed.

  • When using the Advance setting with "instanceName=[Server Name]" the error thrown is:

Driver error: The connection to the host <HOST NAME>, named instance <Instance> failed. Error: "java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Receive timed out (local ports <port number> to address::;, remote unknown port to unknown host)". Verify the server and instance names and check that no firewall is blocking UDP traffic to port <port number>. For SQL Server 2005 or later, verify that the SQL Server Browser Service is running on the host.
