Symptom

  • Executing a query on hot MDA tables in parallel from multiple sessions.
       
  • A client session received the following error:

Msg 12034, Level 17, State 3:
Line 10:
Collection of monitoring data for table 'monProcessProcedures' failed due to insufficient memory. Retry when there is less load, or fewer users, on the server. 26 rows were not returned because 3744 bytes of memory could not be allocated.
Msg 8601, Level 20, State 1:
Line 10:
Process 21 tried to keep the PSS for process 23 when it already had the PSS for process 22 kept.
ASE is terminating this process.   

  • The ASE errorlog reported Error 8601 with a stack traces:

Error: 8601, Severity: 20, State: 1
Process 21 tried to keep the PSS for process 23 when it already had the PSS for process 22 kept
