2286995 - EPM Connection Errors Due to incorrect URL format, Incorrect host definition or incorrect user credentials

When connecting through EPM Add-in connection manager, you are getting one of the following general errors:

1. There is a problem with the XML that was received from the network. See inner exception for more details. Encountered unexpected character '<'
2. Unable to contact the server. There was no endpoint listening at <your EPM Add-in URL> 

for the second error you will find the following error in Fiddler trace

...<p>URL   call was terminated because the corresponding service is not available.</p>...<br>The termination occurred in system   with error code <b>404</b> and for the reason <b>Not found</b>...<h2>What can I do?</h2>Select a valid URL.
