2289061 - Very large composite query loses material after change

Symptom

A composite query with more than a few hundred cells suddenly empties some of its cells after a change is made to one of them.

Environment

SuccessFactors Report Designer

Cause

The composite query component does not have a hard limit on size, but it was only intended for a certain amount of complexity.  Above a certain size, it may not correctly check all cells after a change is saved to one of them because of the activity involved in automatically saving all the rest, and its behaviour can be unpredictable.

Resolution

If you need to display a large number of measures, it is vastly preferable to find a way to include them all in the same query, or in a few.  If you make several cells across a row where each has a list of measures in the Rows section of its query, you can do calculations on all of them at once in a small number of cells.  You may need to recreate your composite query from scratch to approach it this way.
