Symptom
Working with a vendor to create LMS content. We would like to make this content compatible to mobile.
The question that came up was on how the content should be developed and what the LMS will support in regards to Mobile: Develop in Flash, Captivate and/or Storyline. OR develop for HTML5. Can you please confirm all the methods that will work that will support mobile compatibility inside LMS.
There is also the aspect of which video formats to use
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Learning
Resolution
From LMS perspective, SF LMS is compatible with all mobile compatible content. The content standard and specification which are supported are SCORM 1.2, Scorm 2004 or AICC.
-
Online: SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, SCORM 2004 4Ed., AICC, AICC Wrapper, Browser, and Document.
-
Offline: SCORM 1.2, AICC, AICC Wrapper, and Document.
-
SCORM 2004, SCORM 2004 4Ed., and Browser are not supported for Offline.
Please refer to the SAP Help page for more information about SAP SuccessFactors Mobile Features.
However, the question that - which development technology is best to create a Mobile Content for SF LMS - cannot be answered from LMS point of view in general but should be taken care by the content developers who are developing content.
An example, if you building a Flash based content it will not run on Apple devices which is not a limitation of LMS but of the device.
If the content is going to be using video, you will want to look into the specific device and check what video formats are compatible for the device. An example is .wmv file format which is created by Microsoft, to be played on an iOS device.
