Symptom
The Notifications sent from LMS contain .ics file as an attachment for the schedule which when clicked in outlook which is locally installed on a system adds the schedule to your calendar.
Where as in Outlook Web Access when click on .ics file users are given a choice of opening it in the local copy of outlook or to download the file.
This becomes an issue if users does not have outlook locally installed.

Resolution
First download the .ics file and then navigate to New>Add Calendar>From File and then you can import events from an .ics file and the schedule is added to your calendar.
