2292651 - xp_cmdshell raises Error 2851 after server upgrade or executing dump and load - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • After an ASE upgrade or a dump & load operation
  • Execution of an XP Server stored procedure fails with Error 2851, for example:

1> xp_cmdshell
2> go

Msg 2851, Level 16, State 2:
Procedure 'xp_cmdshell', Line 1:
Cannot create system extended stored procedure 'xp_cmdshell' in database 'test'.
Dynamic linked library 'sybsyesp' may only be referenced in 'xp_cmdshell' and 'xp_freedll' system extended stored procedures created by the database owner of 'sybsystemprocs'.

Msg 11031, Level 16, State 1:
Procedure 'xp_cmdshell', Line 1:
Execution of procedure xp_cmdshell failed because of errors parsing the source text in syscomments during upgrade. Please drop and recreate dbo.xp_cmdshell.
