2295428 - Supply/Demand numbers in Workforce Planning do not match Termination Rate exactly

Symptom

The calculated future figures in a Workforce Planning report for X years in the future do not exactly match the current headcount/FTE minus the termination rate compounded for X years.

Environment

SuccessFactors Workforce Planning

Cause

The Termination Rate in WFP is not as simple as the starting headcount times the term rate, due to retirees.

Our model takes away half the modeled retirees from the headcount before factoring the termination rate.

There is also special handling for cases of large number of retirees.

An example straightforward calculation:
Field Value
Supply 15000
Retirees 500
Half 250
Supply less Half 14750
Term Rate 3.35%
Supply less Half x Term Rate 494

We would also consider Movement In & Out, and Hires, if they have been utilised in the forecast.

Resolution

If you change Rounded Value to Decimal Values in WFP you will see the exact results of the calculation, which may make it clearer.
