2295983 - Error Message "Parent org unit already assigned from DD.MM.YYYY to DD.MM.YYYY"

When you replicate the Org Structure from your ERP system/CRM System to C4C system, system throws the below Error message:

Parent org unit already assigned from DD.MM.YYYY to DD.MM.YYYY

Assigned parent org unit is a child org unit

Assigned parent org ABC cannot be a child org of the org unit XYZ

There are multiple causes for this issue:

Cause 1:

You have assigned multiple Parent Org Units for an Org Unit with same validity period

You have assigned same Org Unit multiple times as parent with Same Validity.

Solution 1:

In C4C, only one valid Parent Org Unit is allowed for a child Org Unit.

Cause 2:

The above two causes might be the symptom here but it wasn’t intention of the User who is replicating the Org Structure.

In ERP system it is possible to assign one sales group assigned to many sales offices whereas in C4C, it supports Multiple Sales Groups under Sales Office.

In case, if you are replicating Org Structure where one sales group assigned to many sales offices then the above issue occurs.

Solution 2:

This feature is not supported in C4C. An org unit can exclusively have one parent at a given time point. To assign the same sales group to multiple sales offices, you can create different org units to represent this sales group and to assign them to the sales offices. In analytics you should then has to set up appropriate reports to collect the data for the sales group

Cause 3:

The Causes mentioned in Cause 1 might be the symptom here but it wasn’t intention of the User who is replicating the Org Structure.

In ERP system, it is possible to have the combination of Org Units with Distribution Channel and Division. But Distribution channel and Divisions are not replicated along with the Org Units which will create the duplicate entries.

Solution 3:

This is actually a known limitation in C4C org structure, where only a single parent assignment is allowed for an org unit for a given validity. In ERP we have the division and distribution channel also as part of the parent org assignment where as in C4C we only consider the org ID.

This is the reason why multiple lines are coming in the parent org assignment tab with the same values. The only possible option for this is to delete the duplicate assignments from the staging area and then process the request.

How to avoid the Duplicate Org Units which were part of the replication request due to cause 2 and cause 3?

For making the parent org assignment unique there is a check box Make Assignment Unique available in the report selection screen for COD_ERP_ORG_UNIT_EXTRACT.

Select this checkbox when replicating the org from ERP to C4C and then the duplicate entries will not be considered in parent org.
