2297748 - Error 6902 or 3478 during rollback of cross database transactions - SAP ASE

Symptom

Error 6902 or 3478 is raised during normal processing requiring a database to be restored from backups:

Msg 6902, Level 21, State 0:
Server 'server', Line 1:
Page timestamp value falls between the old and new timestamps from log. Page #=3, object id = 1, page timestamp=0000 00001998. Log: old timestamp=0000 000017a9, new timestamp=0000 000019ca. Log record marker = (1115, 5).
Error while undoing log row in database 'db1'.  Rid pageid = 0x45b; row num = 0x5.
ASE is terminating this process.

or

Msg 3478, Level 21, State 1:
Server 'server', Line 1:
During undo the page timestamp value is less than new timestamp from log. Page #=22, object id = 2, page timestamp=0000 00000c91. Log new timestamp=0000 0000164e. Log record marker = (1050, 14).
Error while undoing log row in database 'db2'.  Rid pageid = 0x41a; row num = 0xe.
ASE is terminating this process.
