2298803 - In Offline mode the Number of results that are displayed is different from the limit set

Symptom

You have set a limit for the number of results to be displayed in the offline mode , but the displayed limit exceeds the limit set

Cause

The limit in the offline synchronisation settings is applied to so called primary objects only.
Means For example , when you set a limit of 10 for Visits, the specified query is executed and limited to 10 entries during synchronisation.

But in addition to the primaries we also sync so called secondary objects, means if another object which is available offline (was synced) e.g. an Account that has a reference to another object like Visit - we also sync this Visit based on the primary object Account.

Reason is that we do not want the user to browse through the data in offline and not being able to navigate to shown object references like in the example from Account to Visit or sees no data for the referenced object.

So this sync of secondaries adds on top of the specified limit applied to the primaries only - ending up above the specified limit.

Note : All the related objects that you see UI as facets for a particular object are its secondaries. So, all linked objects of an objects are its secondary (For Example : Open a Visit, and the facets in the Visit screen are its secondary objects).

Resolution

This is the Expected System behavior.
