Symptom
A user can see Report Transfer and Instance Validation in the Admin menu - how do I hide these options?
Reproducing the Issue
Log in to BizX > Analytics > Analytics > Admin
Cause
The reason a user is seeing the Report Transfer and Instance Validation is due to the unrestricted permissions that the users Analytics role has.
Instance Validation is available by default for any role that has Query Workspace or Analytics Workspace permissions.
Report Transfer is available by default for any role that has Report Designing or Report Designing Admin permissions.
Resolution
The only way to remove these Admin options is to remove Query Workspace, Analytics Workspace, Report Designing and Report Designing Admin permission on the role.
Please note that the separate Report Transfer role permission will only work when Report Designing and Report Designing Admin permissions are restricted in a role.
A role has access to Query Workspace or Report Designing tools already have access to inbuilt Validation so having Instance Validation with these tools is an extension of this access and is expected functionality. The Instance Validation tool allows validation of queries and reports in bulk rather than on an individual basis (which is what you get withing the Query Workspace/Report Designer tools).
It is also current expected functionality for the Report Designing or Report Designing Admin role permissions is to have Report Transfer access by default. If a user can create a report, change ownership, validate etc then they should also be able to download a report bundle to upload to another instance (eg. from a Test instance to a Production instance).
