2299737 - Error in Day Closure Run: “Creation of period closure date for employee XYZ failed. No valid offsetting acct found for source account ABC (YYYY.MM.DD - YYYY.MM.DD) on YYYY.MM.DD”

Symptom

You are trying to execute correction run for Employee  XYZ (where XYZ represents the Employee) in Time Administration and system throws error messages that prevents you to Save it.

Creation of period closure date for employee XYZ failed. No valid offsetting acct found for source account ABC (YYYY.MM.DD - YYYY.MM.DD) on YYYY.MM.DD

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Time Administration work center
  2. Select the Regular Tasks view
  3. Select Run Day Closure
  4. Choose the Employee  XYZ and Set Period Closure Date
  5. Select Save

Cause

Period End Rules for the Time Profile was not set to zero.

The error occurs because a back dated configuration change is made to the Time Account Period End Rules.

The Employee's Time Profile for the dates specified in the error does not have the Time Account assigned. Hence, it is unable to receive any balances as per the period end processing rules.

You need to identify, if you have intentionally unassigned the Time Account for the periods specified or if you do not require the Time Account assigned to the Employee for the time period specified.

Resolution

If you do not want the Time Account assigned to the employee going forward, then, set the Period End Rules for the Time Profile DD.MM.YYYY to DD.MM.YYYY for Employee XYZ to Set to Zero using the below steps. This will set the value for the year YYYY to zero.

  1. Go to Time Administration work center
  2. Go to Employees view
  3. Search for Employee XYZ 
  4. Go to Time Profile tab
  5. Select the Time Profile having the Start Date DD.MM.YYYY – End Date DD.MM.YYYY
  6. Go to tab Time Account Rules
  7. Select the Time Account ABC (where ABC represents the Time Account)
  8. Go to tab Period End Rules and select Adjust Rules
  9. Select the Posting Type Set to Zero
  10. Select Save and Close 

Else, if you want the Time Account included, then you have to assign the Time Account to the Employee's Time File.
