2300154 - Managers couldn't see nominated positions for their direct reports in Nomination Portlet

Symptom

  • Managers have Succession Management & Matrix Report and Succession Planning permission but couldn't see nominated positions of their direct reports
  • Users with full admin rights and access to all positions could see all nominated positions for a given position.

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Proxy as one of the managers
  2. Go to Employee Profile and search for his direct report
  3. Manager could see that there are 3 nominated positions but couldn't see their names as it is showing as HIDDEN

Cause

The nomination data showing on the Nomination Portlet depends on the settings done under Nomination Setup page. It may be possible that the data on Nomination Portlet has been filtered by Succession Planning permission i.e. if a manager has Succession Planning permission for his direct reports only and if his direct reports has been nominated to a position which is outside the Succession Planning of manager then the nominated position for that direct report will show as HIDDEN to the manager.

If users will full admin rights cannot see the nominations, it may be the case that the "Hidden" nominations are nominations which are to Positions which have since been made inactive.

Note: By full admin rights we mean "Succession Management and Matrix Report Permissions" and "Succession Planning Permissions" for all users and positions in the system.

Resolution

If you do not want to show the number of hidden nominations and/or have the nomination data on Nomination Portlet to be filtered by Succession Planning permission then you would need to do below changes in Nomination Setup:

1. Go to Admin Center

2. Under Succession click on Nomination SetUp

3. Uncheck "Show the number of hidden nominations" and/or "Filter Current Nominations portlet data by Succession Planning permissions"

4. Save the changes, managers will be able to see all nominated positions of their direct reports and/or the number of hidden nominations will not be seen.

Note: For nominations to inactive positions which show as hidden, you will need to make the position active and then remove the nominations and make them inactive again afterwards.
