2300607 - Assignment Profiles not updating free-floating items after new item revision is created

This is a KBA for customers encountering issues with Assignment Profiles when a new revision is created for a free-floating item.

Learning Management System (LMS)

1. Add a new item revision manually in LMS UI or via the Item Connector
2. New revision of item does not replace old revision in Assignment Profile

When a new revision is created, the curriculum the item is in can be updated. This will, in turn, update the Assignment Profile where this curriculum is assigned. However, if the item revision is assigned in an Assignment Profile as a free-floating item and not as part of any curricula the item will not be updated in the Assignment Profile. This could cause many issues, especially in the case where the old revision is inactivated. This would mean affected users in the AP will not be assigned this item despite a new revision having been created.    

The only current solution to this issue is manually deleting the old free-floating item revisions from the affected Assignment Profile and replacing them with the new revisions. This could be very time-consuming. An Enhancements Request is required and such functionality shoud be seriously considered for a future release.
