2300607 - Assignment Profile doesn't update free-floating items after new item revision is created

Symptom

An item is revised and a new version is created. However, the new revision doesn't replace nor get automatically added to the assignment profile that the original item is in.

Cause

When a new revision is created, the curriculum the item is in can be updated. This will, in turn, update the Assignment Profile where this curriculum is associated to (because it's the curriculum itself that will be updated).

However, if the item revision is associated to an Assignment Profile as a free-floating item and not as part of any curricula, the item will not be automatically updated in the Assignment Profile.

Please note that selecting the option "Do you wish to update User learning plan assignments potentially affected by this new item revision?" will make the new item version to be assigned to the users' Learning Plans, but this option doesn't make any changes to assignment profiles.

Resolution

The current solution to this scenario is to manually delete the old free-floating item revisions from the necessary Assignment Profile and replacing them with the new revisions.

Alternatively, to have a different system behavior, it would be possible to have an enhancement request created for it (as per KBA 2090228), where the Learning Product Management team can further review and assess the requested functionality to be considered in a future release.
