2305417 - Leave Balance discrepancies between Employee Central and Time Account reports in Advanced Reporting

Symptom

Discrepancies reported for Leave Balances between Employee Central and Advanced Reporting (Time Account Snapshot and Time Account General reports).  For the example below an employee is reporting 16 days annual leave balance in Employee Central but 15 days Available Balance Days in the Time Account Snapshot report in Advanced Reporting.

Annual Leave is calculated slightly differently in Employee Central and the Time Account standard report templates in Advanced Reporting. For the example above:

Employee Central: 

In Employee Central Booking Start Date and Booking End Date for the leave record are used to determine the time period the leave record is associated with.  In the example below for Record A:

bookingStartDate = 01/01/2015

bookingEndDate = 31/12/2015

Posting Date / Booking Date = 01/01/2016

This means that Record A will be included in the accrued Annual Leave Balance for 2015 (not 2016) so the ‘Annual Leave for Employee A’ is 16 days in Employee Central (see below)

Advanced Reporting – Time Account reports:

For the Time Account standard reports the bookingDate (or Posting Date) is used to determine the time period the leave record is associated with.  In the same example:

bookingStartDate = 01/01/2015

bookingEndDate = 31/12/2015

bookingDate = 01/01/2016

This means that in the Time Account reports this record will be included in the accrued Annual Leave Balance for 2016 so the ‘Annual Leave for Employee A’ in the ‘Time Account Snaphot Report’ or ‘Time Account Overview Report’ in Advanced Reporting is 15 days (16 days + -1 day = 15) where -1 is the ‘Interim Update’ record in Employee Central.

The Date Options for the ‘Time Account Snapshot Report’ below also indicates that the ‘bookingDate’ is used as the Start Date for this report

Internal discussions are in progress to determine if the default date should be changed or if all records should be selected for a time period regardless of the booking date.
