2309478 - Not Able to Create a New Material Using Copy Functionality With In Preparation Status

The requirement is to create a new Material based on the existing one. When using the Copy functionality in the "In Preparation" status, no data is copied into any fields.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Product Portfolio workcenter
2. Go to Products view
3. Go to By Materials subview
4. Select the Product
5. Select Copy-> With In Preparation Status
6. New Material screen opens, but there is no data copied in it in any of the tabs

This behavior is related to the "Distribution Channel." When copying the Material from the Product Data Work center, ensure the Distribution Channel is maintained in the Business Configuration.

For example, copying a Material ID XXX in the system does not fetch the data because multiple "Distribution Channels" are maintained in the Material, which are not configured.

You may check the Distribution Channels associated with the Product as below:

1. Go to Product Portfolio workcenter
2. Go to Products view
3. Go to By Materials subview
4. Search for the Product
5. Select Edit (View All) the Material
6. Go to Sales tab and observe the Distribution Channel

Since certain Products utilize the Distribution Channel, it is necessary to add these Distribution Channels to the system by following the steps outlined below:

1. Go to Business Configuration work center
2. Select Implementation Projects view or Overview
3. Search and Open the activity Distribution Channel
4. Select Add Row and maintain the required Distribution Channels with their Descriptions

Now, Copy->With In Preparation Status should work as expected.
