2314638 - How to activate a GUI Special Function Keys and Function Codes

Symptom

Even after activating a GUI Status, it can be seen that some objects are still not visible or disabled, resulting in one of the symptoms below:

  1. SAP Function Key grayed-out:

  2. Menu Bar field label grayed-out:

  3. Application Toolbar field is not visible:

By further checking, it can be seen that the Function Code object has not been activated yet, for example, In transaction SE41, the inactive function codes can be checked by using Ctrl+F4 (Extras > Active functions in current status, then "Inactive functions (F7)" button). Light brown color means that the object is inactive. The Color Legend can also be checked using Ctrl+F5 (Utilities > Help Text > Color Legend):
