Symptom
When trying to export labels in any Locale which has special characters, such as German, does not appear display correctly in the export. For exampe, the special character "ü" is showing in unicode.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Learning
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Learning Administration
- Go to References > Manage Labels > Label Import/Export
- Export the Labels of a Locale that has special characters
Cause
By design, Learning exports special characters in unicode or UTF-8 format.
Resolution
It is expected behavior that the special characters contained in the exported label values will be viewed in their unicode representation in the exported text file. Similarly, when this same file is imported into any SF Learning system these characters will be converted back to their special character text equivalent.
If there is a need to view these special characters in their plain text format in the export file, the usage of a 'unicode to text' conversion tool is required; commonly made available on the web.
