2316803 - The 'Send Email Notification' functionality does not support all syntax tags

• For users who get enrolled in a class, Learning automatically triggers messages about registration including the syntax tag 'STUD_LAST', which is properly populated with student's last name.
• After some changes done in segments, the Learning Administrator decides to send ad hoc notifications by using the 'Send Email Notification' functionality from user 'Actions' menu.
• Sending the notification this way, the syntax tag 'STUD_LAST' is not populated and displayed.

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

1. Learning Administrator enrolls users into any class within Learning >
2. Users receive notification, where the tag 'STUD_LAST' is populated with student's last name >
3. Learning Administrator sends notification by triggering it through 'Send Email notification' in the 'Actions' button of the class's record >
4. Learning Administrator selects the users to get notified and the template to be used (SystemEnrollmentNotification) >
5. The users receive the notification. However, the email does not have the syntax tag 'STUD_LAST' populated.

Currently, the 'STUD_LAST' syntax tag is not part of the Adhoc Notification Syntax Tags and hence cannot be used in this context.

That's the application's expected behavior, since the notifications triggered via the 'Send Email Notification' functionality in the 'Actions' menu makes use of Adhoc Notification Syntax Tags.

To review which tokens are supported through the 'Send Email Notification' feature, please navigate to:

3. Manage Emails > 
4. Email Notification Token Sets >
5. Open the token set ID 'AD_HOC_NOTIFICATION' >
6. At the 'Tokens' tab are listed specific set of tags that can be part of Adhoc Notifications.

NOTE: The "Send Email Notification" tool supports only some of syntax tags. Only the ones listed at the 'AD_HOC_NOTIFICATION' token set.

Alternatively, to have a different system behavior, it would be possible to have an enhancement request created for it (as per KBA 2347182), where the Learning Product Management team can further review and assess the requested functionality to be considered in a future release.
