What is the SAP Jam Application Launcher and how does it help me?

SAP Jam Collaboration (Advanced Plus and Enterprise Editions)

The SAP Jam Application Launcher adds the ability for Chrome and Firefox to launch Microsoft Office applications for editing documents. It is only available to SAP Jam Advanced Plus and Enterprise Editions

It adds ability to launch other applications for editing non-Office documents to all browsers. Without Application Launcher, only 32-bit Internet Explorer browser has the ability to launch Microsoft Office directly for editing the document.

For Microsoft Office Integration, if a document is edited from SAP Jam directly (using above method), there will be a new panel in Office to show the feed on this specific item. Users can reply to the conversation in the Office UI without leaving the application.

The following operating systems and internet browsers are supported with the SAP Jam Application Launcher.

Operating Systems:

• Microsoft Windows 7 SP1
• Microsoft Windows 8
• Microsoft Windows 8.1
• Microsoft Windows 10

Internet Browsers:

• Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 8, 9, 10, and 11)
• Microsoft Edge
• Google Chrome
• Mozilla Firefox

Microsoft Office - System requirements:

• Microsoft Office 2010 SP1
• Microsoft Office 2013 SP1 (32 and 64 bit)

Note: External users are not supported in SAP Jam Application Launcher, since the authentication mechanism cannot differentiate internal users vs external user and will always require the access either through SF or IAS.
