2318379 - Software Update Manager (SUM) hangs in step READ_SHAREDINPUT for a DUAL_STACK topology maintenance activity

Symptom

  • You are performing a dual stack update/upgrade with Software Update Manager (SUM) 1.0 SP16. SUM is hung during a dual stack maintenance activity as shown in the below screen:

  • The JAVA tab is waiting for the ABAP to finish, but the ABAP tab shows that the step is running, even though the phase is in error:

  • READ_SHAREDINPUT step fails with the below error: (Logfile: <Path to SUM>/SUM/abap/log/READ_SHAREDINPUT.LOG)

    • 3 ETQ120 20160506175508: PID 8864 execute '<Path to SUM>/SUM/abap/bin/sdt_sic_client.bat "get EHPStackFile ABAP false"', 
      output written to 'SIC_StdOut.txt'.3WETQ123 20160506175509: PID 8864 exited with status 1 (time 0.000 real)
  • The SIC_StdOut.txt has the below information (Logifle: <Path to SUM>/SUM/abap/tmp/SIC_StdOut.txt)
    • EXECUTING <Path to SUM>/SUM/abap/bin/sdt_sic_client.bat "get EHPStackFile ABAP false"
      Cannot establish connection. Internal server error or server may not be up.Connection refused: connect (local port 62883 to address 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0, remote port 4239 to address 127.0.0.1)
      SAPup> Process with PID 8864 terminated with status 1 at 20160506175509!
