2320597 - SUM step BACKUP-SAPJVM-OS4 fails with 'SAPCAR failed with rc=44'

Symptom

Software Update Manager (SUM) fails during BACKUP-SAPJVM-OS4 step on OS400. Latest BACKUP-SAPJVM-OS4_xx.LOG file contains the following error:

  • [Error ]: The following problem has occurred during step execution: com.sap.sdt.util.diag.DiagException: Command <SUM>/sdt/SAPCAR failed with rc=44 see logfiles: <SUM>/sdt/log/SWITCH/SAPCAR_01.out or <SUM>/sdt/log/SWITCH/SAPCAR_01.err.

AND

  • SAPCAR_01.out file contains the following errors:

SAPCAR: file 'sapjvm_4' is inaccessible
SAPCAR: file 'sapjvm_4.lst' is inaccessible
SAPCAR: file 'sapjvmmanifest.mf' is inaccessible
