2320891 - Import content tool - Content cannot be added since the select item already has SCORM content

When using the import content tool to replace a SCORM content for an existing Item, a validation error occurs.

Validation Error

You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

• Content cannot be added since the selected item already has SCORM content

1. Identify an existing item that has a SCORM content >
2. Go to Content > Import Content > Select Replace Content for an Existing Item >
3. Select a ZIP file > Server Location and item ID >
4. Proceed with the import > Validation Error.

This is an expected behavior as per the Learning Product Management team comments:

• The Learning admin cannot replace a SCORM content (especially SCORM 2004) for an item because the sequencing and navigation rules are stored at the item level. An item can only have one SCORM 2004 course structure.

It is best practice to revise an existing item. Please, make sure to fully test how the revision process works in a non-production environment and how it impacts curricula, programs, assignment profiles, etc.

1. Go to Learning Administration > Learning Activities > Items > 
2. Go to the item record >
3. Click in the "Actions" menu > Select "Revise" >
4. During the revision process, select all applicable settings per the business requirements >
5. Make sure to uncheck the "This item has online settings. Do you wish to include the online settings in the new revision of this item?" setting >
6. Revise the item >
7. New content objects/packages can be added to the new revision.

It is possible to clear all content from an item to replace with other content objects/content packages. Make sure to use the import content tool first to have the existing content imported and make a note of the content object/package ID.

1. Go to Learning Administration > Learning Activities > Items > 
2. Go to the item record >
3. In the "Actions" menu > Select "Clear Online Settings" >
4. As all content has been disassociated from the item, the content object/package can be added.
