2325368 - XP Server won't start and shows log message "No server log file open; Using stderr for log" - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • After building and XP server with srvbuildres
  • Executing any xp_cmdshell will return an error that prevents XP server from starting
  • Example command

xp_cmdshell 'ls'
go

  • XP Server log messages:

Interfaces file /opt/sybase/ASE16/interfaces is being referred by XP Server.
No server log file open; Using stderr for log.
Failed to run XP Server. Check the XP Server log file.
