2327918 - "Invalid DOL data row pointer..." error when inserting data to a compressed table - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • A stored procedure fails to execute an INSERT and writes this message to the ASE error log:

Invalid DOL data row pointer: row xx with status 0x800 must be normal row instead of compressed row.

  • The INSERT is part of large SELECT statement involving many tables executed from a stored procedure.
  • SELECT includes a mixture of tables with and without compression. 
  • The stored procedure explicitly enables compatibility_mode.
