2329207 - Signal 11 with routine null() when using set_appcontext() - SAP ASE 16.0

Symptom

  •  Received an "infected with signal 11" error in the null() module with a stack trace:

Current process (0x1d900ed) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
Address 0x0x0000003698e83c1a ((null)+0x3698e83c1a), siginfo (code, address) = (1, 0x(nil)) 

  • Modules seen on the ASE stack trace include:

_memset
actx_set
qa_init

ra__init_qa_hooks
rep_agent_thread

  • In ASE 16.0 SP03, the following error may also be reported when running set_appcontext():

Msg 712, Level 17, State 52:
Server 'ASEname', Line 1:

There is insufficient heap memory to allocate 3 bytes. 
Please increase configuration parameter 'heap memory per user' or try again when there is less activity on the system.
