2329752 - RUN-SAPCPE-ERS-SWITCH step error in SUM: "Node ERSInstance not found"

Symptom

Software Update Manager (SUM) throws the below error in the step: RUN-SAPCPE-ERS-SWITCH (Logfile: <Path to SUM>/SUM/sdt/log/SUM/RUN-SAPCPE-ERS-SWITCH_XX.LOG)

Jun 3, 2016 10:55:18 AM [Error ]: The following problem has occurred during step execution: com.sap.sdt.util.diag.DiagException: Error while executing Task with input file ExecuteTasks.xml and task RUN_SAPCPE_ERS.
Could not build configuration from input file <Path to SUM/SUM/sdt/config/ExecuteTasks.xml.
ERSInstance/ExecutableDirectory is an invalid macro.
Node ERSInstance not found.

Environment

Switch Upgrade Scenario with SUM.
High Availability Environment where SCS and CI are running on one cluster node and ERS is running on a different cluster node.
