• SAP Crystal Server 2016

1. Install Crysal Server, or the Client Tools for SAP Crystal Server.
2. Unable to find the Universe Design Tool.

• SAP Crystal Server, and the Client Tools for SAP Crystal Server does not install the Universe Design Tool.
              
• Client Tools for SAP Crystal Server does not provide any software to create and edit .UNV Universe.
           
• The Client Tools for SAP Crystal Server installs the following softwares only:
• Business View Manager
• Information Design Tool
• Translation Management Tool
• Data Federation Management Tool 
• Development Components ( SDK )
• Database Access and Security ( ODBC Drivers for Sybasem Oracle,... )
           
• The Information Design Tool (IDT) is the software to use to create and edit the new Universe (.UNX), as well as to migrate old Universe (.UNV) to the new format. 

• There is no option to install Universe Design Tool (UDT) since it is no longer included in the SAP Crystal Server Client Tools.
      
• The suggestion to create and edit Universe (.UNX) or migrate old Universe (.UNV) to the new Universe format, use the Information Design Tool (IDT), you will then be able to report off the Universe (.UNX) in Crystal Reports for Enterprise:
           
  1. Go to the SAP Software Downloads page: https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/softwarecenter
            
  2. In the SAP Software Downloads page, under the tab "Installations and Upgrades", select "By Category"
            
  3. Under "By Category", select "Analytics Solutions"
          
  4. In the "Analytics Solutions" page select: "SAP CRYSTAL SERVER"
           
  5. Then select:
  • Select the desired product version, for example:  SAP CRYSTAL SERVER 2016
  • Installation and Upgrade
  • WINDOWS  ( Drop-down list is set to Linux by default, select Windows)
          
  6. It will then display a list of the available downloads, among the list, it will show the client tools.
          
     For example: For SAP Crystal Server 2016 - Support Pack 04, the Client Tools will be listed as: 
            
     CLIENT TOOLS FOR SAP CRYSTAL SERVER 2016 SP04
               
  7. Install the Client Tools, and it will install the Information Design Tool (IDT) as one of the tool.
           
     Use the Information Design Tool (IDT) to create, and edit Universe (.UNX), as well as to migrate old Universes (.UNV) to the new Universe format (.UNX)  
          
        
     Important Note: SAP Crystal Reports cannot report off .UNX Universe, it can only report off .UNV Universe.
