2332534 - Costing Quantity Unit Deviates from Inventory Valuation UoM of Product ABC

Symptom

You have performed Actual Cost Rollup Run and in the Processed with Errors tab you notice the error message as:

Costing quantity unit deviates from inventory valuation UoM of Product ABC (ABC represents the product ID).

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Inventory Management work center.
  2. Under Periodic Tasks select Actual Cost Rollup.
  3. Select the Run ID YYY (YYY represents the actual cost rollup run ID) and click on the resulted Execution ID ZZZ (ZZZ represents the execution ID).
  4. Navigate to Processed with Errors tab.
  5. For the Cost Object Type: Material Inventory you will notice the error message:

Costing Quantity Unit Deviates from Inventory Valuation UoM of Product ABC.

Cause

If the material price/cost validity is not maintained in accordance with the selection provided in the Actual Cost Rollup Run then Actual costing will not happen for the product ABC.

Resolution

Example:

When you perform the Actual Cost Rollup Run: YYY for period 04-2016 to 06-2016 then the material which qualifies for the rollup cost should have its costs rate maintained latest by 04-2016 onwards or prior period in its product master setup valuation tab.

But if the costs for the product ABC are only valid from period 06-2016 which means that during the period 04 and 05 there is no valid cost exist in the system then the actual costing will not happen, because to have the rollup cost applied the material should have its cost valid for the entire period selection that we mention in the Actual Cost Rollup Run.

Either you adjust the selection period in the above run in sync with the costs rate validity for the maerials or make sure the material has valid cost set up in the system for the period for which you are running the above rollup run.
