2333145 - Placeholder Defined for Custom Field in E-Mail Workflow Rule for Sales Quote Does Not Fetch Data in E-Mail Content

Symptom

The placeholder defined for a custom field in the e-mail workflow rule for a Sales Quote does not retrieve any data in the generated e-mail content.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer core applications

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Administrator work center.
  2. Open Workflow Rules.
  3. Search for and edit workflow rule ABC (ABC represents the name of the workflow rule).
  4. Under Define Actions, add the placeholder #XXX# (XXX represents the custom field added as a placeholder
  5. Insert the placeholder into the content of the uploaded e-mail template.
  6. Go to the Sales work center.
  7. Navigate to the Sales Quotes view.
  8. Search for and open a Sales Quote.
  9. Make any minor change and click Save.
  10. The workflow rule ABC is triggered and an e-mail is sent.
However, the value for field XXX is not populated in the e-mail content.

Cause

  • The custom field XXX was added to the Overview tab of the Sales Quote but not to the Header level.
  • The Sales Quote workflow rule references extension fields from the Quote Header. Since the custom field is not maintained at the header level, its value remains initial.
  • As a result, the placeholder does not retrieve any value in the triggered e-mail content.

Resolution

  1. Ensure that the extension field XXX is maintained at the Sales Quote header level.
  2. If the field is created via PDI, request the responsible PDI developer or partner to implement the necessary logic so that the extension field XXX is populated on the Sales Quote header.
  3. Once the header field contains a value, the placeholder will correctly retrieve the data in the triggered e-mail content
