Symptom
1) When we record learning for the users, we can set the price they should be charges - actual costs and cost center. But when we then later are going through the steps of closing a scheduled offering, one of the options are to set realized costs and cost center or set the price as 0. What is the difference between the 2?
2) Why do we have to set actual charges for the users when recording learning, and why do we have to set a price under realized costs? what is the realized cost used for? and why does that need a cost center?

[Answers] Closing an offering only deals with realized costs of putting on the training, such as instructor or facility fees or custom costs like catering, and not with the tuition collected from user registrations. Those are two totally separate transaction models in the LMS commerce.

[Answer] If the user self registered, or purchased an online item with the chargeback action done within the user catalog then there is no further need to set additional charges at the record learning step. The charge at the record learning step is meant for transactions where the admin wanted to set the chargeback without exposing to the user, or if a user completed the course without registering/paying for it upfront, then the admin has an option to capture the chargeback on the backend of the process.
The price for the realized costs when closing an offering are there to put in the actuals of the cost elements associated with offering
