2343122 - Manual Rename of SAP MaxDB/liveCache/Content Server on Unix

Symptom

  • This document provides an example of the manual procedure to rename a SAP MaxDB/liveCache/Content Server database on Unix platforms.

  • For SAP MaxDB OLTP and OLAP/BW (NetWeaver databases) and SAP liveCache databases there is the automated procedure available provided by the SWPM tool.
    We suggest using this tool if possible. Refer to SAP Note 1619720 - System Rename for SAP Systems based on SAP NetWeaver.

  • The steps described in this note are valid for SAP MaxDB >= 7.8 and SAP liveCache >= 7.9 databases.
    If the database to be renamed is at a lower version, refer to SAP note 604680 - Renaming an SAP DB, SAP MaxDB, or SAP liveCache database.
