When moving applicants into different stages in the pipeline, you may be prompted with the following system message: "When you complete this action there will be no openings remaining on this requisition and the requisition will be closed. Do you want to proceed?"

Why does this happen and how can we proceed so that the requisition does not close automatically?

If you received this system message, you must have configured "When number of remaining openings becomes less than one, Automatically close requisitions" within Admin Tools -> Manage Recruiting Settings

This means the system will decrease the job requisition open positions by 1  when you place an applicant into a certain status in the pipeline. If the number of openings reaches 0, the requisition will be automatically closed.

Please, find below the applicant categories that trigger "Automatic Closure" of Job Requisition on final hire:

• PRESTART (Hireable)
• HIRED
• ONBOARD
• EMPLOYEE

The category list provided above decreases the number of positions. They are all categories from applicant statuses, so you need to verify under "Edit Applicant Status Settings" if the status in which you are moving this applicant has one of these catogories associated to it.

If you want to disable this functionality, you can either deselect the option "When number of remaining openings becomes less than one, Automatically close requisitions" or change the applicant status category to another which does not decrease the number of positions opened.

Also, it's important to remember that even if the status has the label as "Hirable", "Ready to Hire" or "Prestart", it doesn't mean the system will consider the status as "Hireable", only after enabling the "Hireable" option will the system consider the status as hireable.

NOTE: If you click on the "Cancel" button, the Job Requisition won't be closed. If you want to close the Job Requisition, please make sure to hit "OK". This is an expected behavior according to KBA - 2751083 - Requisition not Closing automatically once vacancy has been filled

Please also note that parent and child requisitions associated through Evergreen requisitions are treated as separate job requistions, so the closure of one with this feature, will not impact the other.
