2348861 - Colorado Affirmation Form repealed no longer required - August 10, 2016 - Onboarding

Symptom

  • Colorado Affirmation form required to be presented to New Hires
  • Colorado has an additional requirement that forces all employers to complete and maintain an employment verification affirmation that simply reaffirms that the I-9 completed
  • Effective August 10, 2016 Colorado Employers will no longer be required to complete the Colorado Affirmation for new hires.

Resolution

  • Effective August 10, 2016 Colorado Employers will no longer be required to complete the Colorado Affirmation Form for new hires.
  • The Colorado Employment Verification law has been repealed by the Colorado General Assembly (House Bill 16-114). This repeal greatly simplifies the new hire process, eliminating duplication of efforts with the Federal Form I-9.
  • Until August, employers must continue to complete the Colorado Affirmation Form for all newly hired employees between now and August 10, 2016. Additionally, employers should retain the Colorado Affirmation Form for all current employees for as long as they are employed with the organization.

What you need to do if you wish the CO Form not to be presented to New Hires on or after August 10, 2016:

  • Create and case request in the SAP Support Portal to deactivate the Feature "CO Form" CO (Colorado) Employment Verification Affirmation
