2350619 - Variable value validation is case-sensitive in the prompt for a HANA data source

Symptom

  • AllowLiteralMemberSelectionsInVariablesHana is set to false.
  • Variable value validation is not case-sensitive in the prompt for a BW data source.
  • But it is case-sensitive for a HANA data source.

Environment

  • SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office 2.4
  • SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Microsoft Office 2.5

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Set AllowLiteralMemberSelectionsInVariablesHana = false according to SAP Note 2325716 to activate variable value validation.
  2. Open a HANA view which has a variable.
  3. Input a value for the variable.
  4. Click ok button, or other fields to execute the variable value validation. Below information message and warning message are displayed:
Characteristic xxx has no master data for "xxx" or you do not have authorization (com.sap.ip.bi.bics.dataaccess.consumer.impl.selector.selection.SingleMember-NoMasterdata)
All selections for characteristic xxx are invalid and have been discarded (com.sap.ip.bi.bics.dataaccess.consumer.impl.selector.selection.ComponentList-AllRejected)

Cause

AO uses InA service for data retrieval from HANA, which is different from BW.

The filter values and variable values must be entered case sensitive for HANA data sources. Currently there is no way to change this behaviour.

Resolution

Input the case-sensitive variable value.
