2351559 - Account Determination is Missing for Item Type Purchase Account

You are trying to post Unposted Source Document XYZ and the error is shown as:

Account Determination is missing for Item Type Purchase Account.
Specify Account Determination in  US Charts of Accounts: Chart of Accounts and Account Determination Profile.
Column Path Inventories->Purchase Account->Purchase Account, Item Type Purchase Account.

You could see that the Purchase Account tab is not available under Inventories Subledger in order to maintain the configuration as specified in the error message.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to General Ledger Work center.
2. Go to Closing Cockpit view.
3. Go to Source Documents subview.
4. Show Unposted Source Documents and Find XYZ.
5. Choose Actions and Post Business Transaction.

To check on the Business Configuration, follow the below steps:

1. Go to Business Configuration Work center.
2. Go to Implementation Projects view.
3. Select the Project and Choose Open Activity List.
4. Go to Fine Tune.
5. Show All Activities and Find Activity Charts of Accounts, Financial Reporting Structures, Account Determination.
6. Go to Account Determination and then to Inventories.

You could see that the Purchase Account tab is not available in order to maintain the configuration as specified in the error message.

The reason why Purchase Account tab is not shown under Inventories Subledger is because the country is not assigned to Account Determination Profile.

This is applicable to country versions like France, Italy, US, Spain and Great Britain only.

You can assign the Country to Account Determination Profile by the following steps:

1. Go to Business Configuration Work center.
2. Go to Implementation Projects view.
3. Select the Project and Choose Open Activity List.
4. Go to Fine-Tune Activities.
5. Show All Activities and Find Activity Charts of Accounts, Financial Reporting Structures, Account Determination.
6. Choose the relevant Account Determination Profile
7. Click Assign Countries/Regions to Profile.
8. Entre the Account Determination profile and Country details.
9. Click on Ok and click on Save and Close.

If it is still not showing the purchase Account tab, check KBA: 2296018 - Italy, France and Spain: Journal Entries for Goods Receipt from Supplier Not Posting to Purchase Account 

SAP also enabled the corresponding Business Configuration Objects in PDI so that you can create your own Accounting Principle through PDI and then, in the PDI solution, mark the checkbox related to Purchase Account Management.
This is another way to enable Purchase Account Management for countries where Globalization is not delivering Accounting Principle.
