Symptom

  • ALTER TABLE SET INDEX COMPRESSION was run on a table with existing data
  • The index is relatively small
  • No change in space allocation is observed after running REORG REBUILD to apply compression
  • Space allocation does show compression if REORG REBUILD is run a second time
