2352634 - Troubleshooting Alert Notification of Time Off Leave of Absence Request

Symptom

You've setup an alert for your Leave of Absence (LOA) request but it is not triggering.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Time Off

Cause

This can be due to several causes, please check:

  1. Check if your rule is defined to be triggered based off the Expected Return Date or Actual Return Date. Actual return dates should not be used as these usually get populated towards the end of the leave and not when submitting/approving the leave. So where it says Effective Date, the Base Date should be Employee Time.Expected Return Date or Employee Time.End Date depending on requirement.
  2. Make sure all approvers have completed their action points to approve fully the workflow.onPostSave Rules only trigger after the workflow has been submitted and completed the workflow.
  3. Check that for External Code that you are checking the Employee Time.External Code and not using a generate function. The correct way is the external code of the absence so, from Employee Time Object.
  4. Go to your Employee Time object (from Configure Object Definitions in Admin Centre) and check your postSaveRules. Check how many you have defined for each time type. Only one alert is supported per time type, so the first one that gets matched will be triggered.

Resolution

If you checked all of the above please run the rule after setting up the rule tracer from Admin Centre > Business Rule Execution Log to further investigate what might be wrong.
