How does the system select value for Standard Weekly Hours field in Job Information of an employee?
It is possible to manually enter a value to this field. However, it is a better practice to let the system derive this value. The system can derive the value from either Position or Job Classification or Location or Company or from a combination of these.
First, the system searches for Standard Weekly Hours value in the most specific object which is Position. If it does not find a value, then it searches in the next most specific object - Job Classification. If the search is still unsuccessful, the system searches in Location and then in Company.
Please note that, you can define rules for the field Standard Weekly Hours in the Propagation Data Model. However, if you want to use Position for deriving the value, you must define a business rule for the same.
