Symptom

  • Corrupted master device
  • Error 692 and write error on disk in ASE errorlog after changing the configuration parameter 'number of devices' from '255' to '256' :
    sddone: write error on virtual disk 0 block 262144: kernel
    sddone: 16384 bytes passed, 0 returned on write for virt disk 0 block 262144

    Error: 692, Severity: 20, State: 1
    Uninitialized logical page '3584' was read while accessing object '99' in database '1'. Please contact Sybase Technical Support.
